Comments and unnecessary whitespace are removed. Values inside quoted strings are left exactly as you wrote them.

Paste a stylesheet to shrink it: comments go, whitespace collapses and the punctuation tightens up. The size before and after is shown in bytes.

How to use it

  1. Paste your CSS into the first box.
  2. Read the minified version beside it, with the bytes saved underneath.
  3. Copy it into your build, or hand it to your developer.

Good to know

  • Values inside quoted strings — font names, content — are left exactly as you wrote them.
  • This is whitespace minification only: it does not rename classes or drop unused rules, so the CSS stays readable if you un-minify it.

Frequently asked questions

Does minifying break my CSS?

Whitespace between rules is not meaningful in CSS and quoted strings are preserved, so the stylesheet behaves the same. Check your site after any change to be sure.

Why is the saving smaller than I expected?

If the file was already minified, or is mostly a few rules, there is little left to remove.
